The DoA signed an MoU with the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIT) of Sri Lanka.
The DoA initiated an annual quiz competition aimed at promoting commerce education among school students.
2010
The Department of Accounting (DoA) was established at the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, as part of a comprehensive restructuring program and curriculum revision.
Senior Prof. T. Velnampy was appointed as the Head of the DoA.
2013
The DoA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka).
The DoA signed an MoU with the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA).

The Talent Management Forum (TMF) was inaugurated as a monthly event at the DoA
Research Seminar Series Program (RSSP) was inaugurated as an annual event.

The DoA signed an MoU with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA UK).

The Bachelor of Business Administration Honours in Accounting program received accreditation from CPA Australia.
The Bachelor of Business Administration Honours in Accounting program received accreditation from ACCA UK.
The Personal and Professional Development Program was inaugurated as an annual event at the DoA.
The DoA engaged with top-tier organisations for student internships, providing valuable real-world experience.
The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) engaged with the DoA to offer a Gold Medal and Cash Prize to a student who performs well at the annual convocation.
