International Accounting Day 2023, hosted by the Department of Accounting, the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, celebrated under the theme Accounting Horizons in 2023: Navigating Ahead, aimed to boost financial literacy and raise awareness of national and global accounting practices, unfolding on November 10 at 9:00 am at the Faculty Auditorium. Trophies and certificates were awarded to students who won quiz competitions conducted among school and university students as part of celebrating International Accounting Day 2023, with the aim of recognising and nurturing emerging talents in the field of accounting. The keynote address, delivered by Mr. B. Pirasenna, Chief Internal Auditor – Laugfs Holdings, explored the realm of Emerging Tech: Evolving Finance, providing valuable insights into the intersection of technology and accounting and financial practices. Prof. S. Srisatkunarajah, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, graced the event, with Prof. N. Kengatharan, Dean of the Faculty, academic staff members, administrative staff members, and students of the Department of Accounting.
